Western Fine ArtistRichard Vandiver

AboutThe Artist
Richard’s greatest joy and calm comes from creating something which evokes from the viewer a lingering glance, some spark and hopefully, a visceral connection. As a fine artist working in oils and watercolors with a focus on a Southwestern motif, his goal is to find that poignant connection with his audience.
Upon his retirement from government service and defense contracting, he is now re-engaged in making art full time. Throughout his years of pivoting towards making his passion a lifestyle, he has grown into one of the more notable Texas Hill Country artists.
My path in art started a long time ago in Houston, Texas, and has taken me all over the world. To echo the phrase, professionally I have been a tinker, a tailor, a soldier and a spy, but nothing is more satisfying to me than being a simple painter of truth.
Richard invites all to witness his life’s experiences through his art. He truly desires to pique something worthy of your time and interest.
Notable Collections
Since 1999, his paintings have ended up in private collections in residences and professional offices. His art is one of a kind and never reprinted. Collectors who own the original works truly hold onto something that is unique and a direct connection to the artist.
Richard has shared his art with the public through features and covers on art magazines as well as local art showcases. His pieces are for those who are deeply interested in Texas and surrounding history, western cowboy art, and understanding its rich culture.
